New FCI server farm

2 min. readlast update: 11.28.2025

Introducing the new FCI server farm.  Switch the host that RDP or the Wyse box connects to to FCIRDPFARM.FCI.LOCAL

What to expect when first switching.

  1. You will need to set up your Outlook email account again.
  2. Your email may be slow to load fully depending on the size of your email box.
  3. You will need to set up your "pinned" items
  4. You will need to set your web browser bookmarks/favorites again.  If you have many, this article I wrote may be a time saver. https://674dcfa9056f1eb95a20d793.kb.help/exportimport-bookmarks-in-chrome-edge-and-firefox/

What has gotten better

  1. There is a new way we are handling printer behind the scenes so printers should no longer disappear at random.
  2. If you set a default printer, it will stick between login sessions and server.
  3. Accessing email is faster due to using Outlook cache mode.
  4. You only need to set up your Outlook email account once.
  5. "Pinned" items to your taskbar should only need to be done once and will stick even when a new server is added.
  6. Web browser (Chrome, Edge) bookmarks/favorites will carry between servers, including new ones added to the farm.
  7. When you set an application as default, like Nitro, or Adobe, it will stick between servers so you only need to do this once.
  8. The latest version of Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc) has been installed.

What is the same.

  1. You must activate Outlook/Office365 the first time you get onto each new server.
  2. No other applications have been updated. (Nitro, Encore, TMWSuite, Transman, GP, etc)

What has gotten worse.

  1. Nothing!
